Binding the Brokenhearted and Setting the Captives Free
Freedom Home Ministry provides a non-profit transitional home opportunity (6 to 18 months) for homeless people who are sincerely seeking transformation from the captive nature of a drug- and alcohol-addicted lifestyle into a life of faith and obedience to the Lord Jesus. This relational ministry will facilitate growth in a participant’s relationships with:
- God (discipleship and prayer)
- self (healing from addictions and traumas of spirit, body, and mind)
- others (twelve-step relational reconciliation and forgiveness)
- the world (the created order, including work/vocation and helping others).
This ministry will utilize trained community mentors who each commit to one hour per week in service to a specific program participant.
The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
The initial targeted population is single women. The home will be staffed by spiritually mature individuals, one live-in and two auxiliary, who will be trained for this ministry. They will lead daily discipleship gatherings of participants, be present to assist in crisis management, as well as coordinate weekly chores for the guests in the family environment, with shared evening meals.
Resources from the community and other staff persons will facilitate skill building in the various relational areas, to include job skills training, financial management, and life skills coaching in a family environment.
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners” – Isaiah 61:1
